I saw Ryan's post on the Singapore Fountain Pen Lovers Facebook group when he posted his attempts of creating a pen tray. He mentioned that he could make the pen tray to order so I jumped at the chance to add it to my collection of pen accersories. My intention wasn't to use the pen tray as intended. I had intended to use it to help upgrade the variety of photographs I can take when I do pen reviews.
The pen tray is made of thin wood stock melded together to form a zig-zag pattern. The idea is to place the pen in the valleys of the zig-zag formation. The pen tray can be used by itself as a way to display your prized pens. Otherwise, it can be placed inside a drawer or a cigar box to protect the pretty pens you have without your pens touching each other.
My pen tray is an oddball since it holds a single pen. Ryan has provided me with a supporting block to prevent the tray from tipping over if a heavy pen is resting in it. Even though the material is really light but once a pen is resting in it, it doesn't tip over that easily. The pen tray works well with or without the supporting block. However it is nice that Ryan has considered that possibility and has a solution for it.
Ryan can customise the tray to the number of pens you want. Send him a PM on Facebook if you are interested to get one for yourself. Do consider supporting our local community of makers.
