Review: Kaweco ICE Sport

The Kaweco ICE Sport is my very first big girl fountain pen. I had used Platinum Preppy and Pilot Petit 1 before the Kaweco. They have always felt scratchy on paper. However, that's all changed when I spotted a Kaweco being sold at Kinokuniya Takashimaya branch. Kinokuniya's stationary section is actually a Nbc stationary and gifts outlet.

Nbc only brings in M nibs for Kaweco so I tried one out and what a difference it was. Smooth and buttery across the page. I am a little disappointed that I didn't get a chance to try other nibs. Regardless, I was sold on the pen and I purchased a yellow one along with a silver clip.

The Kaweco ICE Sport is a light weight, plastic mini fountain pen. It is best used with the cap posted. Otherwise it would be way too short to be used comfortably. I was told that my little yellow fountain pen resembled a screw driver. The ICE Sport doesn't come with a clip but you can purchase one either in silver or gold seperately. The cap is screw in and it works with either international short cartridges or a converter.

Pros:
- Cheap
- Light
- Portable
- Takes cartidges and converter
- Good beginner fountain pen

Cons:
- Cheap-ish plastic feel
- Low ink capacity
- Inks tend to spill out and stain the inner cap, making it hard to clean
- Has to be used posted
- Resembled a screw driver
